The Institute of Resource Ecology performs research to protect humans and the environment from hazards caused by pollutants resulting from technical processes that produce energy and raw materials.

The Department of Reactive Transport is looking for a

PhD Student (f/m/d): Hydrogen isotope separation experiments, Research Training Group 2721: “Hydrogen Isotopes”

English

Recruitment is subject to final approval by the project sponsor.

Working field:

  • Experimental work on the separation of hydrogen isotopes with novel materials, conducting permeation and sorption experiments
  • Collaboration with the research groups of the Graduiertenkolleg/ Research Training Group GRK 2721 with a specific focus on experimental validation of numerical results
  • Publication of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals
  • Presenting research results at conferences and workshops
  • Participation and active involvement in the organization of events within the structured doctoral program at the University of Leipzig

Requirements:

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of chemistry, physics, materials science or related area
  • Basic knowledge in radiochemistry and crystallography - knowledge and experience in experimental/analytical work and radionuclide handling desirable
  • Willingness to work in dedicated radiochemistry laboratories and handle open radionuclides
  • Very good written and fluent verbal communication skills in English; German skills are an advantage
