Work­ing field:

Research and devel­op­ment in the BMJV-fun­ded pro­ject "DaSKITA" (data sov­er­eignty through AI-based trans­par­ency and inform­a­tion) at the Depart­ment of Inform­a­tion Sys­tems Engin­eer­ing in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary cooper­a­tion with part­ners from research, the Inter­net industry and civil soci­ety. In par­tic­u­lar, new, AI-based approaches and tech­no­lo­gies for the cost-effi­cient exer­cise of trans­par­ency and inform­a­tion rights (e.g. accord­ing to the GDPR), for eas­ing the recep­tion of respect­ive inform­a­tion and for its machine-read­able pro­vi­sion by ser­vice pro­viders are to be explored and developed. This is inten­ded to give con­sumers a higher degree of informed­ness and self-determ­in­a­tion in the con­text of data-based ser­vices. Tasks include the research, pro­to­typ­ical imple­ment­a­tion and prac­tical eval­u­ation of cor­res­pond­ing tech­no­lo­gies. The oppor­tun­ity for a doc­tor­ate is given.


Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence, Inform­a­tion Sys­tems Engin­eer­ing/Man­age­ment, or Indus­trial Engin­eer­ing with a spe­cial­isa­tion in Com­puter Sci­ence; very good pro­gram­ming (and soft­ware devel­op­ment) skills; excel­lent com­mu­nic­a­tion skills, also across dis­cip­lines; high level of com­mit­ment; first-class know­ledge of Ger­man and very good know­ledge of Eng­lish, both writ­ten and spoken.
Also essen­tial: Pas­sion for new tech­no­lo­gies and techno-legal inter­re­la­tions; exper­i­ence in the con­crete design of dis­trib­uted, web-based sys­tems and in the tech­nical imple­ment­a­tion of (data pro­tec­tion) legal require­ments ("Pri­vacy Engin­eer­ing"), „can-do atti­tude“ and self-reli­ance. Exper­i­ence in the applic­a­tion of AI-based pro­ced­ures in sys­tem devel­op­ment and in-depth know­ledge of data pro­tec­tion law are an advant­age; exper­i­ence in third-party fun­ded pro­jects is desir­able.
