Work­ing field:

In the field of digital engin­eer­ing, you are research­ing a fun­da­mental pro­ject of the DFG on the sub­ject of design prin­ciples for the goal-ori­ented product devel­op­ment of tech­nical sys­tems. First, you ana­lyze the real use of design prin­ciples (gen­eral prin­ciples of product devel­op­ment, design heur­ist­ics) in prac­tice, train­ing and research. A par­tic­u­lar focus is on the digital acquis­i­tion, sys­tem­at­iz­a­tion and visu­al­iz­a­tion of exper­i­en­tial know­ledge from the area of product devel­op­ment of tech­nical sys­tems. You are going to elab­or­ate, val­id­ate and demon­strate your research res­ults by imple­ment­ing a soft­ware applic­a­tion. In this way, you make a decis­ive con­tri­bu­tion to expand­ing the wealth of know­ledge in the digital use of per­son-bound empir­ical know­ledge: Your research enables the next gen­er­a­tion of KI-based assist­ance sys­tems, which will use form­al­ized exper­i­ence as an essen­tial data source. You will con­trib­ute your know­ledge gained in the course of the pro­ject to the uni­versity teach­ing by devel­op­ing a didactic teach­ing concept dur­ing the pro­ject.
At TU Ber­lin, you are integ­rated in the inter­dis­cip­lin­ary team of the Indus­trial Inform­a­tion Tech­no­logy depart­ment, which works closely with the Fraunhofer IPK's Vir­tual Product Devel­op­ment busi­ness unit. You are involved into a proven net­work of experts in the area of product devel­op­ment at the inter­face between clas­sic engin­eer­ing and inform­a­tion tech­no­logy.
An oppor­tun­ity for doc­toral stud­ies is given.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­ful com­pleted uni­versity degree (Dip­lom, Mas­ter or equi­val­ent) in the field of engin­eer­ing
  • Know­ledge in the areas of design prin­ciples,inform­a­tion tech­no­logy and / or know­ledge man­age­ment
  • Inde­pend­ent, sys­tem­atic and struc­tured way of work­ing
  • Excel­lent abil­ity to ana­lyze com­plex, the­or­et­ical rela­tion­ships
  • Interest in the fields of visu­al­iz­a­tion of know­ledge, soft­ware devel­op­ment, know­ledge pro­cesses in com­pan­ies and uni­versity didactics
  • Very good know­ledge of Ger­man (busi­ness flu­ent), good know­ledge of Eng­lish (con­ver­sa­tional), both spoken and writ­ten
  • Exper­i­ence in the fields of semantic tech­no­lo­gies, arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, empir­ical research and digital know­ledge mod­el­ing is desir­able (but not man­dat­ory)
