Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Faculty of Mathe­ma­tics, Insti­tute of Sci­en­ti­fic Com­pu­ting, Chair of App­lied Ana­ly­sis

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

(Sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion employees are remu­n­e­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The posi­tion is star­ting at Octo­ber 1st 2018 and limi­ted until Octo­ber 31st 2019 with the pos­si­bi­lity of pro­lon­ga­tion. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - Wiss­ZeitVG). Balan­cing family and career is an important issue. The post is basi­cally sui­ta­ble for can­di­da­tes see­king part-time employ­ment. The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.

Work­ing field:

Rese­arch on homo­ge­niza­t­ion of par­tial dif­fe­ren­tial equa­ti­ons and ana­ly­sis of varia­tio­nal pro­blems with various sca­les with app­li­ca­ti­ons to con­ti­nuum mecha­nics; active coope­ra­tion in rese­arch activi­ties of the Chair of App­lied Ana­ly­sis.

Require­ments:

uni­ver­sity degree and PhD in mathe­ma­tics or com­pa­ra­ble qua­li­fi­ca­tion, working expe­ri­ence in theory of par­tial dif­fe­ren­tial equa­ti­ons, cal­cu­lus of varia­ti­ons, as well as in one or more of the fol­lo­wing fields: non­linear elas­ti­city, gra­di­ent sys­tems, quan­ti­ta­tive (sto­cha­s­tic) homo­ge­niza­t­ion, ran­dom walks in ran­dom envi­ron­ments. Active coope­ra­tion in rese­arch activi­ties of the Chair of App­lied Ana­ly­sis and inte­rest in inter­di­sci­pli­nary pro­jects are expec­ted.
