Das Fraun­ho­fer-Insti­tut für Inte­grierte Schal­tun­gen IIS in Erlan­gen ist eine welt­weit füh­rende anwen­dungs­ori­en­tierte For­schungs­ein­rich­tung für mikro­elek­tro­ni­sche und infor­ma­ti­ons­tech­ni­sche Sys­tem­lö­sun­gen und Dienst­leis­tun­gen. Es ist heute das größte Insti­tut der Fraun­ho­fer-Gesell­schaft. Unter ande­rem mit der maß­geb­li­chen Betei­li­gung an der Ent­wick­lung der Audio­co­dier­ver­fah­ren mp3 und MPEG AAC ist das Fraun­ho­fer IIS welt­weit bekannt gewor­den.

In enger Koope­ra­tion mit den Auf­trag­ge­bern betrei­ben die Wis­sen­schaft­ler inter­na­tio­nale Spit­zen­for­schung in den For­schungs­fel­dern Audio und Medi­en­tech­no­lo­gien, Bild­sys­teme, Ener­gie­ma­nage­ment, IC-Design und Ent­wurfs­au­to­ma­ti­sie­rung, Kom­mu­ni­ka­ti­ons­sys­teme, Loka­li­sie­rung, Medi­zin­tech­nik, Sen­sor­sys­teme, Sicher­heits­tech­nik, Ver­sor­gungs­ket­ten sowie Zer­stö­rungs­freie Prü­fung.

Digital audio sig­nal pro­cessing

Work­ing field:

Do you have an ear for music and are you inter­ested in state-of-the-art audio cod­ing meth­ods?

In that case, this is the per­fect job for you!
You will design per­cep­tual audio cod­ing algorithms and develop these fur­ther. In addi­tion, you will cre­ate cus­tomer-ready soft­ware lib­rar­ies for audio cod­ing on PC plat­forms and work on the inter­na­tional stand­ard­iz­a­tion of new audio cod­ing meth­ods.

About us
The research team for audio and media tech­no­lo­gies has been work­ing on audio and image cod­ing as well as mul­ti­me­dia tech­no­lo­gies for more than 25 years, and made a name for itself due to its sig­ni­fic­ant con­tri­bu­tion to the devel­op­ment of mp3 and AAC.
Fraunhofer audio cod­ing tech­no­lo­gies can be found in more than ten bil­lion devices and has already been licensed by more than 1,000 com­pan­ies.


What we expect from you
– Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree in a sci­entific sub­ject
– Pro­found know-how of the pro­gram­ming lan­guages C/C++ and MAT­LAB
– Prior know­ledge of digital audio sig­nal pro­cessing
– Good Eng­lish skills for the work as part of an inter­na­tional team

Frame­work con­di­tions
Employ­ment, remu­ner­a­tion, and social bene­fits are in line with the col­lect­ive bar­gain­ing agree­ment for the pub­lic sec­tor (TVöD). The pos­i­tion is ini­tially lim­ited to two years.
