on the topic: Area Selective Deposition (ASD)

Working field:

The Group leader is responsible for establishing, leading and managing an independent research group within the Institute for Materials Chemistry (IMC), delivering of bold, ambitious and transformational research in the field of ASD which is aligned with the broad research fields of IMC.

Key responsibilities:

  • To set the research direction for the ASD group and ensuring research activity is consistent and contribute to the IMC’s overall research strategy
  • To recruit and manage the ASD group members which may include postdocs, doctoral students, research assistants and other co-workers.
  • Supervision of young researchers (PhDs, Masters) and contributing to the development of re-search engagement of the institute
  • To effectively collaborate with other groups within IMC as well as within IFW
  • Conducting high quality research including publication in top international journals and dissem-ination of research results to academic networks and general public
  • Contribution to the research funding of IMC by acquiring external research funding through national and international funding agencies
  • Active involvement in assessment and evaluation program of IFW

Requirements:

  • PhD in relevant scientific discipline such as inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering
  • A strong publication record demonstrating the ability to deliver bold and ambitious research results as well as building and managing both internally and with external academic and or/industrial partners to enhance the research capabilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage with senior researchers and technical staff
  • At least 2 to 4 years of postdoctoral research experience with international mobility
  • Expertise in atomic layer processing technologies (ALD, PE-ALD, ASD) and thin film characterisation techniques
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with excellent skills in presenting and writing scientific results, publications, project grants
  • We aim to recruit candidates with pronounced initiative, creativity, and ability to work effectively in a team of international researchers

The contract of employment, including remuneration, is based on the collective bargaining law for the public service of the federal states TV-L EG 13 scale with full time working hours, part-time work possible by arrangement. The initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of extension for additional two years based on the performance. The expected start date is 01.01.2026.
