Working field:

The key competences of the chair “Architecture of Transformation” lie in the field of architectural design and in the research of the transformation and densification processes of cities. Its focus lies in the exploration of complex constellations that arise from social, technological, and material changes within today’s information society. This includes the reflection upon design and building construction, with a focus on the theme of “further building” within dense structures. This includes the interdisciplinary research on the morphological, social-spatial, technological, and ecological transformation processes, including questions of diversity, inclusion and gender. Research will examine the contextual and inner logic of the architectural transformation processes, with the goal of developing future-oriented designs. The focus is on architectural solutions that reflect their effect and impact on the urban system. The holder of the position is expected to contribute actively to the development of the key research areas of TU Berlin and to participate in the faculty’s and the Institute’s teaching duties. Incidentally we refer to §99 BerlHG.

We are looking for a colleague with sufficient professional experience, who holds a university degree in architecture. Qualified achievements in architectural design, distinguished projects, realized buildings and the development of design methodology in regard to the morphological, socio-spatial and technological aspects must be proven. The capability of interdisciplinary teamwork and the willingness for participation in academic self-government is expected.
Applicants must qualify for the appointment according to the requirements § 100 BerlHG. These entail a university degree in architecture and building construction. Pedagogical-didactic experience and aptitude need to be documented by a teaching portfolio (more information on this on the TUB-Homepage, Direct access 144242). Applicants must also be able to hold courses in German and English. Incidentally we refer to the AS resolution on “Language Policy” of 16th May 2018.
