Leibniz-Institut für Festkörper- und Werkstoffforschung Dresden (IFW Dresden e.V.)

The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. The IFW employs approximately 600 people and one focus is on the training of young scientists besides enhancing fundamental and ap-plied research development. At the highest international level, the IFW operates modern materials science on a scientific basis and makes the obtained results useful for the economy. The complex and interdisciplinary research work is carried out within the IFW by five scientific institutes, which are supported by a highly developed technical infrastructure. The IFW supports its employees in reconcil-ing work and family life and regularly submits to the berufundfamilie® audit.

Working field:

The position comprises scientific studies on the development of future sensor elements for applica-tions at high temperatures and under harsh environment conditions. As a member of SAWLab Saxony, you are part of a committed and innovative team in a complex, multidisciplinary research envi-ronment. Your tasks include in particular:
  • design and realization of advanced test bed environment for radio frequency-based sensors operat-ing under different gas atmospheres up to 1000°C,
  • experimental investigation of microstructured sensors in the test bed environment as well as
  • development of innovative microacoustic sensor concepts for high temperature applications.

As a successful candidate (m/f/d) you should have a Master’s degree or Diploma in experimental physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or in a comparable field of study and have a doctorate, preferably with a background in electronic measurements especially at radio frequencies up to 2.5 GHz. High motivation and very good English or German skills as well as the ability to work in a team complete your profile.

What we offer:

The Institute for Solid State Research offers within the competence and application center for acous-toelectronic fundamentals, technologies and devices (SAWLab Saxony) at the IFW Dresden a Post-Doc Position (m/f/d) starting at 1.3.2020 in full-time (part-time is also possible) limited to 24 months with the possibility of extension.

The duration of the contract is two years with the possibility of extension. The salary is according to the German tariff TV-L (EG 13, 100%, part-time is also possible). The employment is starting 1 March, 2020 at the earliest, but later dates are possible.

The IFW would like to increase the proportion of women in science. Qualified women are therefore explicitly invited to apply. Severely disabled applicants (m/f/d) are given preferential treatment if they have the same qualifications.

How to apply:

If you are interested in the position, please send your application including a CV and the list of publi-cations, a motivation letter describing the research career goals, skills and experience, copies of cer-tificates citing the reference number (DM1001-2/20) as a single pdf file (other formats will not be accepted) to the following email-address:

The position is open as long as the announcement is online.
