Leib­niz-Insti­tut für Fest­kör­per- und Werk­stoff­for­schung Dres­den (IFW Dres­den e.V.)

The Leib­niz Insti­tute for Solid State and Mater­i­als Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) is a non-uni­versity research insti­tute and a mem­ber of the Leib­niz Asso­ci­ation. The IFW employs approx­im­ately 600 people and one focus is on the train­ing of young sci­ent­ists besides enhan­cing fun­da­mental and ap-plied research devel­op­ment. At the highest inter­na­tional level, the IFW oper­ates mod­ern mater­i­als sci­ence on a sci­entific basis and makes the obtained res­ults use­ful for the eco­nomy. The com­plex and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research work is car­ried out within the IFW by five sci­entific insti­tutes, which are sup­por­ted by a highly developed tech­nical infra­struc­ture. The IFW sup­ports its employ­ees in recon­cil-ing work and fam­ily life and reg­u­larly sub­mits to the beru­fund­fam­ilie® audit.

Post-Doc Pos­i­tion (m/f/d) DM1001-2/20

Work­ing field:

The pos­i­tion com­prises sci­entific stud­ies on the devel­op­ment of future sensor ele­ments for applica-tions at high tem­per­at­ures and under harsh envir­on­ment con­di­tions. As a mem­ber of SAW­Lab Sax­ony, you are part of a com­mit­ted and innov­at­ive team in a com­plex, mul­tidiscip­lin­ary research envi-ron­ment. Your tasks include in par­tic­u­lar:
  • design and real­iz­a­tion of advanced test bed envir­on­ment for radio fre­quency-based sensors operat-ing under dif­fer­ent gas atmo­spheres up to 1000°C,
  • exper­i­mental invest­ig­a­tion of micro­struc­tured sensors in the test bed envir­on­ment as well as
  • devel­op­ment of innov­at­ive microacous­tic sensor con­cepts for high tem­per­at­ure applic­a­tions.

Require­ments:

As a suc­cess­ful can­did­ate (m/f/d) you should have a Mas­ter’s degree or Dip­loma in exper­i­mental phys­ics, elec­trical engin­eer­ing, mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing or in a com­par­able field of study and have a doc­tor­ate, prefer­ably with a back­ground in elec­tronic meas­ure­ments espe­cially at radio fre­quen­cies up to 2.5 GHz. High motiv­a­tion and very good Eng­lish or Ger­man skills as well as the abil­ity to work in a team com­plete your pro­file.

What we of­fer:

The Insti­tute for Solid State Research offers within the com­pet­ence and applic­a­tion cen­ter for acous-toelec­tronic fun­da­ment­als, tech­no­lo­gies and devices (SAW­Lab Sax­ony) at the IFW Dresden a Post-Doc Pos­i­tion (m/f/d) start­ing at 1.3.2020 in full-time (part-time is also pos­sible) lim­ited to 24 months with the pos­sib­il­ity of exten­sion.

The dur­a­tion of the con­tract is two years with the pos­sib­il­ity of exten­sion. The salary is accord­ing to the Ger­man tar­iff TV-L (EG 13, 100%, part-time is also pos­sible). The employ­ment is start­ing 1 March, 2020 at the earli­est, but later dates are pos­sible.

The IFW would like to increase the pro­por­tion of women in sci­ence. Qual­i­fied women are there­fore expli­citly invited to apply. Severely dis­abled applic­ants (m/f/d) are given pref­er­en­tial treat­ment if they have the same qual­i­fic­a­tions.
