Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Faculty of Com­pu­ter Sci­ence, Insti­tute of Soft­ware and Mul­ti­me­dia Tech­no­logy, Chair of Com­pu­ter Gra­phics and Visua­li­sa­tion

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

(Sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion employees are remu­ne­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The posi­tion is to be fil­led on 01.02.2020 and will be offe­red until 30.09.2021. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG).

Work­ing field:

The posi­tion comes with a tea­ching accord­ing DAVOHS. Rese­arch focu­ses on immer­sive Sci­en­ti­fic Visua­li­sa­tion wit­hin the inter­di­sci­pli­nary Com­pe­tence Cen­ter for Scala­ble Data Ser­vices and Solu­ti­ons (ScaDS). In close col­la­bo­ra­tion with the Inter­ac­tive Media Lab Dres­den and with rese­ar­chers from the mate­rial sci­en­ces, cli­mate rese­arch and the life sci­en­ces, new immer­sive visual ana­ly­sis methods for tra­jec­tory and ensem­ble data as well as machine lear­ning models are to be rese­ar­ched. This requi­res inten­sive inter­di­sci­pli­nary com­mu­ni­ca­tion with the pro­ject part­ners.

Require­ments:

excel­lent uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter or equi­va­lent) in the field of Com­pu­ter Sci­ence, Elec­tri­cal Engi­nee­ring, Mecha­tro­nics or simi­lar fields; abi­lity to work inde­pendently and tar­get-ori­en­ted in a team; high com­mit­ment; flu­ent in Eng­lish lan­guage to write excel­lent papers and to par­ti­ci­pate in inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces, inte­rest in prac­tice-ori­en­ted and inter­di­sci­pli­nary coope­ra­tion with part­ners. Know­ledge in usage and cali­bra­tion of AR/VR hard­ware as well as in the imple­men­ta­tion with C++ and of GPUs is of advan­tage.

a diver­si­fied, topi­cal and chal­len­ging rese­arch posi­tion with your own scope for design in an inter­di­sci­pli­nary team of young rese­ar­chers, par­ti­ci­pa­tion in con­fe­ren­ces for rese­arch exchange, excel­lent con­tacts to part­ners from rese­arch and indus­try, inde­pen­dent orga­ni­za­tion of the rese­arch work.
