The pro­fess­or­ship is loc­ated at the Depart­ment of Civil and Struc­tural Engin­eer­ing. The BTU is look­ing for a national and inter­na­tional proven per­son­al­ity with excel­lent work in research, teach­ing and prac­tice. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate shall rep­res­ent the stated field in research and teach­ing. Duties will include mater­ial-com­pre­hens­ive teach­ing (in Ger­man and Eng­lish) of steel and tim­ber con­struc­tion in the bach­elor‘s and mas­ter‘s courses of the BTU. Expert­ise and com­mit­ment in fun­da­mental as well as inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research areas is expec­ted. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate should have exper­i­ence in exper­i­mental research, which is expec­ted at the fac­ulty‘s Research and Mater­ial Test­ing Labor­at­ory (FMPA) and in cross-fac­ulty labor­at­ory facil­it­ies (Panta Rhei).The can­did­ate is expec­ted to cooper­ate with other depart­ments and par­ti­cip­ate in aca­demic self-admin­is­tra­tion as well as in the fur­ther devel­op­ment of the pro­file of the fac­ulty.
Other duties res­ult from the require­ments set by § 42 Branden­bur­gisches Hoch­schulge-setz (Higher Edu­ca­tion Act of the State of Branden­burg – BbgHG) in con­junc­tion with § 3 BbgHG.
Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and real­iz­a­tion of third-party fun­ded pro­jects is expec­ted. Fields of research should be rel­ev­ant for the DFG (Ger­man Research Found­a­tion) or sim­ilar inter­na­tional research fund­ing organ­iz­a­tions. Lec­tures are primar­ily to be held in Ger­man, flu­ency in Eng­lish is expec­ted.
