TIB, being part of the Leib­niz Research Asso­ci­ation, is with around 550 employ­ees one of the largest tech­nical inform­a­tion centres in Ger­many, hav­ing three main func­tions:
1. Act­ing in the capa­city of the Leib­niz Inform­a­tion Centre for Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy, our for­ward-look­ing ser­vices secure the infra­struc­tural require­ments for provid­ing research­ers in sci­ence and industry with high-qual­ity inform­a­tion and lit­er­at­ure.
2. Car­ry­ing out cut­ting edge research to fur­ther expand TIB’s role as a Ger­man inform­a­tion centre for the digit­isa­tion of sci­ence and tech­no­logy.
3. Offer lib­rary ser­vices for the Leib­niz Uni­versity Han­nover.

Your chal­lenge
We are look­ing for a Mar­ket­ing Asso­ci­ate to plan and imple­ment com­mu­nic­a­tion and dis­sem­in­a­tion activ­it­ies for a highly pres­ti­gi­ous European Research pro­ject on big data ana­lyt­ics for the energy sec­tor at the Sci­entific Data Man­age­ment Group of TIB. This pro­ject will run from Janu­ary 2020 until Decem­ber 2022; it will drive the digit­al­iz­a­tion of the energy sec­tor, enabling higher levels of oper­a­tional excel­lence with the adop­tion of dis­rupt­ing tech­no­lo­gies. The pro­ject aims at offer­ing access to cheaper and sus­tain­able energy for energy con­sumers and thus max­im­ise social wel­fare. This job pos­i­tion focuses on organ­iz­ing and execut­ing meas­ures to dis­sem­in­ate and com­mu­nic­ate the pro­ject and its out­put. You will facil­it­ate the shar­ing of the out­comes of the pro­ject with external, tar­geted audi­ences, as well as towards other units of the 20 con­sor­tium part­ners. Fur­ther­more you will col­lect feed­back from vari­ous audi­ences and engage them with the pro­ject through tar­geted dis­sem­in­a­tion activ­it­ies, e. g. by co-organ­ising work­shops and meet­ings. Moreover, you will pro­mote the vis­ib­il­ity of the pro­ject and raise aware­ness about the top­ics it addresses through effect­ive com­mu­nic­a­tion and out­reach activ­it­ies, social media cam­paigns, pub­lic­a­tions, main­ten­ance of the pro­ject’s web­site and blog, dis­tri­bu­tion of prin­ted and elec­tronic mater­ial and pub­lic­a­tion of press releases. All afore­men­tioned activ­it­ies will be coordin­ated and developed in col­lab­or­a­tion with the pro­ject’s com­mu­nic­a­tion lead and the pro­ject leader at TIB. You will receive train­ing for the afore­men­tioned tasks.

Your tasks include
  • Devel­op­ment and joint imple­ment­a­tion of the com­mu­nic­a­tion and dis­sem­in­a­tion strategy of a high pro­file European pro­ject with a con­sor­tium of 20 part­ners
  • Sup­port­ing the pre­par­a­tion and dis­sem­in­a­tion of mar­ket­ing con­tent, e. g. news­let­ters and com­mu­nic­a­tion cam­paigns at European level
  • Reg­u­larly update the pro­ject's web­site and social media accounts with the rel­ev­ant con­tent in order to max­im­ise the vis­ib­il­ity of the pro­ject, the oppor­tun­it­ies to use the pro­ject res­ults and aware­ness of its rel­ev­ance for EU cit­izens
  • Sup­port of the mar­ket­ing activ­it­ies of con­fer­ences, events, work­shops and webinars in con­nec­tion with the data-driven approaches developed in the pro­ject
  • Con­trib­ute to the research and pre­par­a­tion of com­mu­nic­a­tion, dis­sem­in­a­tion and mar­ket­ing res­ults and reports for EU-fun­ded pro­jects


  • Uni­versity degree (Bach­elor / Mas­ter or com­par­able), prefer­ably in mar­ket­ing and com­mu­nic­a­tion or a related field (e. g. busi­ness devel­op­ment, busi­ness admin­is­tra­tion, digital strategy, etc.); A mas­ter is an asset.
  • Spe­cial­iz­a­tion in the energy sec­tor is an asset
  • Exper­i­ence in the mar­ket­ing activ­it­ies of a research insti­tu­tion or a com­pany
  • Pre­vi­ous work­ing exper­i­ence in EU-fun­ded pro­jects and their com­mu­nic­a­tion is an asset
  • Excel­lent writ­ten and oral com­mu­nic­a­tion skills in Eng­lish; Ger­man would be a plus.
  • Exper­i­ence in social media mar­ket­ing
  • Very good digital lit­er­acy, includ­ing tasks such as find­ing, eval­u­at­ing, and com­pos­ing clear inform­a­tion for web­sites, social media and con­duct­ing mar­ket research and stake­holder man­age­ment
  • Good inter­per­sonal skills with the abil­ity to work in an inter­na­tional team

  • Graphic design skills

to work in the Sci­entific Data Man­age­ment Group led by Prof. (Univ. Simón Bolívar) Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal begin­ning on Janu­ary 1st 2020.

The pos­i­tion is ini­tially lim­ited to 2 years. The reg­u­lar weekly work­ing time is 39.8 hours (full-time). The pos­i­tion is only suit­able for part-time work to a lim­ited extent. Depend­ing on the suc­cess­ful can­did­ate’s qual­i­fic­a­tion (Bach­elor / Mas­ter), the remu­ner­a­tion is based either on pay scale group 12 or 13 TV-L.

In TIB’s Research and Devel­op­ment Depart­ment, you have the oppor­tun­ity to fur­ther your sci­entific devel­op­ment in a dynamic and excel­lent research envir­on­ment. The research depart­ment at the TIB is rel­at­ively young and offers many oppor­tun­it­ies. Cur­rently, there are five research groups in the depart­ment: Data Sci­ence and Digital Lib­rar­ies, Sci­entific Data Man­age­ment, Know­ledge Infra­struc­tures, Learn­ing and Skills Ana­lyt­ics, and Visual Ana­lyt­ics. Com­mon to all research groups is the vis­ion to rethink the rep­res­ent­a­tion and pro­vi­sion of data and inform­a­tion and to organ­ize them in an Open Research Know­ledge Graph (ORKG) in the future. There is a close cooper­a­tion with the Research Cen­ter L3S of Leib­niz Uni­versity Han­nover - the L3S is one of the world's lead­ing research insti­tutes in the fields of Web & Data Sci­ence.
