The TU Dresden is one of eleven German universities that were identified as an “excellence university”. TUD has about 36.500 students and almost 5319 employees, 507 professors among them, and, thus, is the largest university in Saxony, today.

Having been committed to sciences and the engineering before the reunification of Germany, TU Dresden now is a multi-discipline university, also offering humanities and social sciences as well as medicine.

In research, we expect applicants to show novel and high-impact contributions in at least one of the following research areas: security of complex systems ranging from large computing infrastructures to small devices; distributed security architectures and protocols; preservation of privacy in a connected world; network security and identity management; applied cryptography and cryptographic protocols. International publications and contacts as well as the active participation in research projects in one or several of the above-mentioned areas are of particular importance. The tasks in teaching include lectures in German and English language within the scope of the dedication of the chair in undergraduate and graduate studies of Bachelor, Master, and Diploma courses at the Faculty of Computer Science as well as at related faculties. Furthermore, we expect the successful candidate to cover social, ethic, as well as economical aspects of privacy and security within the teaching activities. The ability and willingness to start and continue interdisciplinary cooperation projects within the diverse technical and scientific community in Dresden - especially with institutions that are members of DRESDEN-concept - and other faculties within TU Dresden (mainly from the Engineering Sciences) is of special importance. Also, excellent international publications, international contacts in academia and industry as well as evidence of the successful supervision of PhDs are crucial. Finally, experience and active participation in self-administration within the academic boards of the Faculty of Computer Science and of TU Dresden are expected.

We expect very good teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English language. Proficiency of the German language is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire language skills sufficient to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within two years after appointment.
