Work­ing field:

The selec­ted Post­doc­toral Fel­low will deve­lop innov­at­ive sci­ent­i­fic rese­arch by strength­en­ing and com­ple­ment­ing the already ongo­ing rese­arch activ­it­ies in the frame­work of the ERC-fun­ded pro­ject: BigE­arth - Accur­ate and Scal­able Pro­ces­sing of Big Data in Earth Obser­va­tion ( Focus of this pos­i­tion will be on ana­lysis of big data in Earth obser­va­tion, satel­lite image search/retrie­val from mas­sive data archi­ves, machine learn­ing/deep learn­ing. In addi­tion, the can­did­ate will be also asked to con­trib­ute to the edu­ca­tion activ­it­ies and to men­tor stu­dents at the BS, MSc and PhD levels.


  • Suc­cess­fully com­ple­ted uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) and PhD degree in Com­puter Sci­ence or App­lied math­em­at­ics
  • Excel­lent pro­gram­ming skills and exper­i­ence in devel­op­ment of inform­a­tion man­age­ment the­ory and algo­rithms, regard­ing sys­tems for par­al­lel and dis­trib­uted ana­lysis on large amount of data
  • A solid track record of rese­arch in one or more areas rela­ted to the rese­arch agenda of the RSiM group
  • Excel­lent Eng­lish oral and writ­ten comu­nic­a­tion skills (pro­fi­ciency in Ger­man is a plus)
