RWTH Aachen - Differentialgeometrie

The new established chair within the Mathematics Department, under the leadership of Professor Umberto Hryniewicz, is conducting research with the emphasis on symplectic geometry and Hamiltonian Dynamics. The Chair is currently being established and is searching for assistants in Research and Teaching.  

2 Research Assistant/Associate

Work­ing field:

Can­di­da­tes are expec­ted to con­duct rese­arch in Sym­plec­tic Dyna­mics, com­pri­sing the use of methods from Sym­plec­tic Geo­me­try/Topo­logy to study the Hamil­to­nian sys­tems in the large. Among such methods one may empha­size Floer theory, Sym­plec­tic Field Theory, Hofer geo­me­try, ECH, gene­ra­ting func­tions and Clarke dua­lity.

Require­ments:

App­li­cants must have a doc­to­rate/Ph.D. or equi­va­lent.
You have an above average uni­ver­sity degree (mas­ter or equi­va­lent) and PhD in mathe­ma­tics. You have out­stan­ding know­ledge in Sym­plec­tic Dyna­mics and/or Sym­plec­tic Geo­me­try. You have a genuine inte­rest in and talent for mathe­ma­ti­cal rese­arch and tea­ching. You are inde­pen­dent and highly moti­va­ted and have a fair amount of com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and team spi­rit.

What we of­fer:

The posi­tion is 2 years and is to be fil­led by June 1, 2019. This is a full-time posi­tion. It is also avail­able as part-time employ­ment per request.

The salary cor­re­sponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
