The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

(sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion employees are remu­n­e­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The posi­tion is (sub­ject to resour­ces being avail­able) star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is limi­ted until 31.05.2020. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - Wiss­ZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion (e.g. PhD). Balan­cing family and career is an important issue. The post is basi­cally sui­ta­ble for can­di­da­tes see­king part-time employ­ment.

Work­ing field:

Pre­pa­ra­tion of requi­re­ments pro­files and gross spe­ci­fi­ca­ti­ons for the Mobile Edge Cloud (MEC) tech­no­lo­gies as well as rela­ted eva­lua­tion con­cepts; deve­lop­ment of QoS models for the MEC; Defi­ni­tion of net­work archi­tec­ture and inter­faces as well as spe­ci­fi­ca­tion of the mobile edge cloud; Inves­ti­ga­ti­ons on highly-avail­able, fail-secure, dis­tri­buted and low-latency edge cloud com­pu­ting and its imple­men­ta­tion; plan­ning of net­work and resource manage­ment, net­work sli­cing and QoS manage­ment; mobi­lity ana­ly­sis by net­work-coded stra­te­gies; embed­ment of con­trol algo­rithms.

Require­ments:

Uni­ver­sity degree in electri­cal or com­pu­ter engi­nee­ring; know­ledge of the basic prin­ci­ples of com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­works; know­ledge of net­work coding and their mathe­ma­ti­cal foun­da­ti­ons; eng­lish in spo­ken and writ­ten; know­ledge of ger­man is desi­ra­ble; ability and wil­ling­ness to work inde­pendently, con­cep­tually and sci­en­ti­fi­cally; inte­rest in prac­tice-ori­en­ted, inter­di­sci­pli­nary coope­ra­tion with part­ners from rese­arch and indus­try; pro­gramming know­ledge (Mat­lab, Python, C, C ++); know­ledge in the area of energy-effi­ci­ent com­mu­ni­ca­tion or sto­rage of infor­ma­tion is also hel­pful.
We are loo­king for­ward to streng­t­hen our team with out­stan­ding, self-moti­va­ted doc­to­ral stu­dents who are inte­rested in rese­arch on 5G com­mu­ni­ca­tion, front-end RF elec­tro­nics, wire­less secu­rity and net­work func­tion vir­tua­li­sa­tion (NFV).
