Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty II - Institute of Mathematics
Research assistant - 0.75 working time - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
Working in the Emmy Noether research group „New Certificates of Nonnegativity and Their Applications in Science and Engineering".
Deciding nonnegativity is a key problem in real algebraic geometry with countless applications. The goal of the project is the investigation and further development of nonnegativitiy certificates based on sums of nonnegative circuit polynomials (SONCs). Next to theoretical questions (e.g. structure of the SONC cone, Positivstellensätze, maximal mediated sets, relation to amoebas) potential applications will also be investigated, for example via experimental comparison with certificates based on semidefinite programming. PhD thesis preparation is possible.
