Research Associate / PostDoc (m/f/x)

At the Faculty of Mathematics, the Institute of Analysis offers a position as
Research Associate / PostDoc (m/f/x)
starting October 1, 2026. The position is initially limited until September 30, 2028, with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually habilitation thesis). Balancing family and career is an important issue. The position is generally suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment. Please indicate the request in your application.
The position is part of a program focusing on teacher training.

Tasks:

  • conducting scientific research in one of the research areas of the Institute of Analysis
  • planning and teaching courses in the field of mathematics (for mathematics degree programs and non-mathematical degree courses), including contributing to the further development of teaching concepts and the use of digital/hybrid teaching formats
  • participating in tasks related to the organization of the institute (in particular concerning the organization, coordination, administration and marking of examinations as well as student support and web content)
  • taking part in tasks of academic self-administration

Requirements:

  • very good university degree and completed (or soon to be completed) doctorate in mathematics or a mathematics-related subject (or equivalent qualification)
  • proven academic teaching experience and willingness to take on teaching responsibilities at short notice
  • excellent command of written and spoken English
  • for foreign-language applicants: very good command of written and spoken German (C2 certificate is required)
