Research Assistant

Your responsibilities:

The Department of AI and Land Use Change at the Technical University of Berlin is seeking to fill a position as a research assistant in the subproject “AI-based resource availability assessment model for the growth of raw materials for fungal composites” as part of the Collaborative Research Center “MY-CO BUILD: Biotechnological production, characterization, and sustainability assessment of fungus-based building materials”. The aim of the subproject is to develop an AI-based assessment model for resource availability for the growth of raw materials for fungal-based building materials based on climate, soil, and land use data. The opportunity to pursue a doctorate is available.

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom, or equivalent) in geosciences, meteorology, geoinformatics, physics, computer science, mathematics, biotechnology
  • Very good programming skills (Python)
  • Experience in evaluating geoscientific data sets
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
  • Experience in machine learning/deep learning/big data analysis is desirable
  • Experience in modeling extreme events is desirable
  • Commitment, ability to work in a team, and ability to work independently and on your own initiative is desirable
