Chair (W3) of General Psychology

At the Faculty of Psychology, the Institute of General Psychology, Biopsychology and Methods of Psychology invites applications for the
Chair (W3) of General Psychology
to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Working field:

You (m/f/x) will represent the field of General Psychology in the Psychology Bachelor and Master degree programs of the Faculty of Psychology. An ambition to acquire third-party funding (e.g., DFG, ERC) is expected as well as an interest to participate in collaborative research (e.g. CRC, graduate school). Your active engagement in academic self-administration is required.

Requirements:

We are seeking an outstanding personality, who is internationally recognized in the field General Psychology, with a focus on higher cognitive function. Your research profile integrates various levels of experience (perception, motivation, emotion, cognition). Your research combines experimental psychological methods with neuroscientific techniques (e. g. functional magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography). The use of formal modelling (e.g. computational modelling) is a plus. Your research profile should offer diverse connections to the research areas of the Faculty of Psychology. We expect extensive experience in teaching General Psychology, exceptional didactic skills, both in group and individual settings, and the ability to teach in both German and English. International visibility through publications, successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding, and experience in academic self-administration are prerequisites. Additionally, we expect engagement with Open Science practices (preregistration, open data, materials, codes) in both research and teaching. The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 59, 69, 71 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Saxon Regulation on Official Duties at Higher Education Institutions (HSDAVO).
