As part of the SaveWaterVeg research project of the German Research Foundation, we are looking for a motivated, talented individual with master's degree in hydrology, water engineering, geoecology or environmental sciences who is interested in the sustainable use of water in cities. The aim is to monitor and model the water stress of urban green (green spaces, green strips, parks, street trees) in the greater Berlin area. The goal of the study is to quantify the water requirements and water losses of urban green during heat waves and to analyze the potential extent to which sufficient water resources are available to prevent permanent damage to urban green and at the same time optimise the cooling effects of urban green. The opportunity to pursue a doctorate is available.
