Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Your responsibility:

  • Participation in the research project “Batterypass-ready” focusing on the development of a test environment for Digital Product Passes (DPP) in accordance with the EU Battery Regulation
  • Design and implementation of an FMEA-based methodology for identifying and prioritizing potential failure modes within the DPP test system
  • Analysis, evaluation, and optimization of data structures and interfaces to ensure data quality and interoperability
  • Support in the system specification, modeling, and prototypical implementation of the test environment in close collaboration with project partners
  • Organization of stakeholder workshops and coordination with industry and associations for requirement gathering, validation, and dissemination
  • Contribution to scientific publications, technical documentation, and policy/industry guidelines on battery passport implementation

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field
  • Solid background in quality management, data quality, Large Language Models
  • Experience in the application or development of FMEA or comparable risk and failure analysis methods
  • Knowledge of data analysis, data management, and interface design (e.g. JSON/XML, APIs, data modeling)
  • Programming skills in Python or a similar language (e.g. R, JavaScript)
  • Ideally, experience with validation of data structures and interoperability testing methods
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of digital product passports, circular economy, AI, and data governance
  • Ability and motivation for academic research (publications, conference papers, project documentation)
  • Good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected
  • Independent, systematic, and reliable working style, combined with strong teamwork and communication skills are a plus
