Technische Universität Berlin offers an open position:

Research Assistant - 0.75 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen- 1st qualification phase (PhD candidate)

The Chair of Architecture of Transformation (AOT) sees itself as a platform, design studio, and network of change. We explore architectural production as a practice that no longer follows the principle of expansion but understands all existing resources as a starting point for open processes of change and as an opportunity for transformative planning, building and use.

Working field:

Participation in research and teaching in Bachelor and Master programmes in the field of 'Architecture of Transformation'. Organisation, preparation and implementation of design studios (design and building construction) and seminars. Organisational tasks within the chair. Supervision and development of research projects, participation in funding application processes, and application to independent research projects. Contribution to the conceptualisation, discussion and development of research projects, also with an interdisciplinary approach. This work should be used to obtain a doctorate in the field of transformation.

Requirements:

  • A successfully completed academic university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in the field of architecture, experience in the field of building transformation and research
  • The ability to teach in German and/or English is required; willingness to acquire the missing language skills
  • Familiarity with forms of scientific communication and dissemination
  • Specific interest in pursuing a doctorate on the topic of transformation (please attach a synopsis of the proposal of max. 900 words)
  • Competence in the linguistic and visual communication of teaching content using PowerPoint, Keynote, CAD, graphics, layout and text.

Advantageous:

  • Professional experience as an architect in building conversion.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly (self-management)
  • Research experience and knowledge of the methods of scientific work, special skills in design
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with other field areas, institutes and institutions
