Work­ing field:

The applic­ant will work on a research pro­ject with part­ners from both, aca­demia and industry. The pro­ject focuses soft­ware-defined net­works, espe­cially 5G.
  • Develop new mech­an­isms to mon­itor and eval­u­ate the Qual­ity of Exper­i­ence (QoE) of the users of a wide range of ser­vices delivered via the Inter­net
  • Eval­u­ate the per­form­ance of dif­fer­ent net­work con­trol strategies to enhance QoE


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence (or sim­ilar) with a focus on Inter­net tech­no­lo­gies is required
  • Fun­da­mental know­ledge in Soft­ware-Defined Net­work­ing, espe­cially 5G is required
  • Com­pre­hens­ive skills and exper­i­ence with the net­work sim­u­lator OmNET++ and the frame­works INET and Sim­uLTE are required
  • Fun­da­mental know­ledge of the con­cepts QoE and QoE-aware net­work­ing is required
  • Deep under­stand­ing of the prin­ciples behind HTTP adapt­ive video stream­ing is required
  • Good Unix skills and exper­i­ence with C++ and script­ing lan­guages such as Python are required
  • Good know­ledge of Ger­man and Eng­lish (oral and writ­ten) is required
  • Struc­tured and inde­pend­ent way of work­ing is required
  • Will­ing­ness to take respons­ib­il­ity for sub­tasks is required
  • Abil­ity to work in a team, will­ing­ness to doc­u­ment and pub­lish pro­ject (par­tial) res­ults are required
  • Exper­i­ences with web tech­no­lo­gies, Machine learn­ing and Min­inet are a plus
