The research assistant will do advanced research in the areas of Internet Measurement and Internet Systems. Working language is English.
Collection and analysis of large-scale Internet/Web datasets
Research on security and privacy issues of networked systems and the Internet
Collaboration with some of the best research groups in academia and the Internet R&D industry in Europe and the US
Dissemination/publication of the research results at the most competitive international conferences in the area of Internet research
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment is required.
Advanced experience in collecting and analyzing large-scale Internet (e.g., passive BGP, active DNS, active probing, active scanning datasets) and Web datasets (e.g., Web crawling datasets) and/or building network systems in the Internet is required
Advanced experience in Python and scripting languages is required
Advanced knowedge of network protocols and architectures (e.g., DNS, BGP, HTTPS, TLS/SSL) is required
Experience in statistical analysis and data mining/ machine learning, e.g., with R or Python is a plus
Experience with data-intensive architectures (e.g., Hadoop and Spark) is a plus
Excellent oral and written skills in English are required; willingness to learn German
