Work­ing field:

The Chair of Coat­ing Tech­no­logy is engaged in the fields of thermal spray­ing, weld­ing (clad­ding), thin-film tech­no­logy and sur­face func­tion­al­iz­a­tion. The com­bin­a­tion of state-of-the-art coat­ing tech­no­logy and innov­at­ive pro­cess ana­lysis enables both sci­entific- and industry-ori­ented research. The entire pro­cess chain of coat­ing, from mater­ial devel­op­ment to indi­vidual pro­duc­tion tech­no­lo­gies as well as qual­ity man­age­ment is con­sidered. Addi­tion­ally, mater­ial and pro­cess ana­lysis as well as numer­ical cal­cu­la­tion, esp. sim­u­la­tion of coat­ing pro­cesses is car­ried out. As part of the ProFIT-fun­ded WvSC Cluster-pro­jects a sci­entific Assist­ant is sought for sub-pro­ject EA 2.0 at the Chair of Coat­ing Tech­no­logy.

Respons­ib­il­it­ies and tasks:
  • Research the suit­able laser beam join­ing pro­cesses (laser beam weld­ing in pulsed and con­tinu­ous wave mode (cw)) for join­ing cop­per and non-fer­rous metals
  • Devel­op­ment of a cohes­ively join­ing tech­no­logy with the laser beam as an effi­cient and robust tool for AM -parts of wind­ing com­pon­ents (Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing)
  • Sys­tem­atic invest­ig­a­tion of mater­ial and man­u­fac­tur­ing tech­no­logy approaches for imple­ment an oxide-ceramic-short-fiber sys­tem with high thermal con­duct­iv­ity
  • Man­u­fac­tur­ing of elec­trical-thermal-oxide-ceramic insu­la­tion lay­ers and non-metal­lic, elec­tric­ally non-con­duct­ive short-fiber-rein­force­ment with plasma spray­ing

  • Suc­cess­ful com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in the fields of mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing or mater­i­als sci­ence; advanced know­ledge in the field of join­ing and coat­ing tech­no­logy; com­pet­ence for self-ini­ti­ated research; interest in applic­a­tion-ori­ented basic research; good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish required; will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted; high capa­city for team­work, com­mu­nic­a­tion skills and organ­iz­a­tional skills; exper­i­ence in the fields of beam tech­no­logy and thin-film tech­no­logy; know­ledge of mater­ial sci­ences is wel­come; exper­i­ence with soft­ware sys­tems Ansys Flu­ent, CFX, Mat­lab, Math­cad are wel­come.
