The Chair of Coating Technology is engaged in the fields of thermal spraying, welding (cladding), thin-film technology and surface functionalization. The combination of state-of-the-art coating technology and innovative process analysis enables both scientific- and industry-oriented research. The entire process chain of coating, from material development to individual production technologies as well as quality management is considered. Additionally, material and process analysis as well as numerical calculation, esp. simulation of coating processes is carried out. As part of the ProFIT-funded WvSC Cluster-projects a scientific Assistant is sought for sub-project EA 2.0 at the Chair of Coating Technology.
Responsibilities and tasks:
Research the suitable laser beam joining processes (laser beam welding in pulsed and continuous wave mode (cw)) for joining copper and non-ferrous metals
Development of a cohesively joining technology with the laser beam as an efficient and robust tool for AM -parts of winding components (Additive Manufacturing)
Systematic investigation of material and manufacturing technology approaches for implement an oxide-ceramic-short-fiber system with high thermal conductivity
Manufacturing of electrical-thermal-oxide-ceramic insulation layers and non-metallic, electrically non-conductive short-fiber-reinforcement with plasma spraying
Successful completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in the fields of mechanical engineering or materials science; advanced knowledge in the field of joining and coating technology; competence for self-initiated research; interest in application-oriented basic research; good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected; high capacity for teamwork, communication skills and organizational skills; experience in the fields of beam technology and thin-film technology; knowledge of material sciences is welcome; experience with software systems Ansys Fluent, CFX, Matlab, Mathcad are welcome.
