Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor – salary grade W3

in the field of "Busi­ness, Com­pany and Tech­no­logy Law".

Work­ing field:

Research in the field of busi­ness law and tech­no­logy-related cor­por­ate law, with a focus on pat­ent law and other tech­nical-insti­tu­tional areas of eco­nomic life.

Fol­low­ing future-ori­ented top­ics should be appro­pri­ately taken in con­sid­er­a­tion:
  • inter­faces between tech­no­logy, busi­ness and law
  • liab­il­ity sys­tems, liab­il­ity risks and their pre­ven­tion
  • legal assess­ment of innov­at­ive key tech­no­lo­gies (e.g. addit­ive man­u­fac­tur­ing, autonom­ous driv­ing, industry 4.0, robot­ics)

In addi­tion, sub­ject-spe­cific teach­ing tasks in the course of the degree pro­grams "Indus­trial Engin­eer­ing and Man­age­ment", "Busi­ness Inform­at­ics", "Eco­nom­ics", "Sus­tain­able Man­age­ment", "Indus­trial Eco­nom­ics", "Innov­a­tion Man­age­ment, Sus­tain­ab­il­ity, & Entre­pren­eur­ship" and "Pat­ent Engin­eer­ing" as well as in vari­ous (con­tinu­ing) edu­ca­tion courses are required. The lec­tures should be held in Ger­man and Eng­lish.

The pro­fess­or­ship is asso­ci­ated with the sci­entific man­age­ment of the Cen­ter for Intel­lec­tual Prop­erty as well as the sup­port of TU Ber­lin in applic­a­tion and fur­ther devel­op­ment of its pat­ent strategy.


Law degree (first state exam­in­a­tion or equi­val­ent, second state exam­in­a­tion an advant­age), ful­fill­ment of the appoint­ment require­ments pur­su­ant to Sec­tion 100 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act. This includes a uni­versity degree, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (gen­er­ally proven by PhD), postdoc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tion and ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242). Fur­ther­more, qual­i­fic­a­tion in the man­age­ment of a large work group, research and teach­ing exper­i­ences in the field of tech­no­logy-related busi­ness law, com­mer­cial law, labor law and pat­ent law. Exper­i­ence in the recruit­ment and man­age­ment of research pro­jects com­plete the require­ments.
