for the chair of "Mater­i­als for Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing".
The pro­fess­or­ship is part of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Sci­ence (WvSC).

Work­ing field:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate should rep­res­ent a new sub­ject area "Mater­i­als for Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing" in teach­ing and research as well as to fur­ther develop the research focus of the Insti­tute for Mater­i­als Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy in Key Applic­a­tion Area "Mater­ial, Design and Man­u­fac­tur­ing" of the TU Ber­lin. Close cooper­a­tion with ber­lin-based com­pan­ies and research insti­tutes in the tech­no­logy areas "New Mater­i­als", addit­ive man­u­fac­tur­ing and digit­iz­a­tion within the frame­work of the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Sci­ence (WvSC) is expec­ted.
In teach­ing, the per­son to be appoin­ted is primar­ily respons­ible for super­vising the newly developed Inter­na­tional MSc study course Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing as well as con­trib­ut­ing sig­ni­fic­antly to the courses BSc and MSc Mater­i­als Sci­ence with com­puls­ory and elect­ive courses.
It is look­ing for an inter­na­tion­ally recog­nized researcher who has excel­lent research achieve­ments in the field of mater­i­als for addit­ive man­u­fac­tur­ing. The research areas should include exper­i­mental as well as the­or­et­ical aspects of mater­ial devel­op­ment for high-tem­per­at­ure applic­a­tions in at least one of these areas:
  • Mater­i­als and pro­cess devel­op­ment for multi- und hybrid­ma­ter­ial Addit­ive Man­u­fac­tur­ing
  • Bond­ing and struc­ture of inter­faces in com­pos­ite mater­i­als / between dis­sim­ilar mater­i­als
  • Trans­port prop­er­ties across multi-and hybrid mater­ial inter­faces

Require­ments:

Can­did­ates must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act) [inform­a­tion sheet avail­able by request], includ­ing a fin­ished aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (gen­er­ally proven by PhD), addi­tional research achieve­ments (Habil­it­a­tion, post-doc­toral teach­ing, or equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tion) and ped­ago­gical suit­ab­il­ity, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 143077).
The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate needs to demon­strate research exper­i­ence in the above­men­tioned fields; aptitude in the lead­er­ship of a work­ing group; exper­i­ence in the super­vi­sion of stu­dent theses and doc­tor­ates; exper­i­ence in ini­ti­at­ing, soli­cit­ing and man­aging national and inter­na­tional third-party fun­ded pro­jects. In addi­tion, com­pet­en­cies and exper­i­ence in the field of pro­mot­ing young researches and women as well as in the area of gender main­stream­ing are desir­able. Social com­pet­ence as well as the abil­ity and will­ing­ness for cooper­at­ive cooper­a­tion with part­ners within and out­side the IWCB and the Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin round off the require­ment pro­file. Applic­ants must be able to teach classes in Ger­man and Eng­lish.
