The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

The posi­tion is star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion ent­ails up to 100% of the full­time wee­kly hours and is initi­ally limi­ted for two years with the option of exten­sion. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz-WissZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.

Work­ing field:

The offe­red posi­tion is fun­ded by a third party pro­ject from Deut­sche For­schungs­ge­mein­schaft (DFG). The aim of the pro­ject is the Laser based tomo­gra­phic mea­su­rement of the local acoustic impe­dance of over­flowed liners in aero-engi­nes in order to iden­tify the under­ly­ing phy­sics to decrease aero-engine noise. The pro­ject is con­duc­ted jointly with our part­ner insti­tute Ger­man Aero­space Cen­ter in Ber­lin (DLR). The tasks wit­hin the offe­red posi­tion ent­ail basic rese­arch on the sen­sor principle, the setup of a mea­su­rement sys­tem as well as the app­li­ca­tion at our part­ner insti­tute. Fur­ther­more, your scope of activity involve publi­ca­ti­ons in inter­na­tio­nal rese­arch jour­nals, pre­sen­ta­ti­ons in inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces as well as super­vi­sing Bache­lor and Mas­ter Stu­dents.


uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ters/Diploma) in elec­tri­cal or mecha­ni­cal engi­nee­ring, phy­sics or simi­lar; expe­ri­ence in Signal pro­ces­sing using Mat­lab or Python; inte­rest in neural net­work based signal pro­ces­sing, expe­ri­ence in labo­ra­tory expe­ri­ments, opti­cal engi­nee­ring (vibro­me­try, holo­gra­phy) and fluid dyna­mics advan­ta­ge­ous; strong sense of respon­si­bi­lity, ana­ly­ti­cal thin­king, com­mit­ted and goal-dri­ven way of working.

an expe­ri­en­ced, inter­di­sci­pli­nary and inter­na­tio­nal team (over 60 awards and honors wit­hin last 10 years); excel­lently equip­ped labo­ra­to­ries (e.g. Mfps camera and fs-laser); visits at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces and con­tacts to part­ners in rese­arch and indus­try; par­ti­ci­pa­tion in fur­ther edu­ca­tion and qua­li­fi­ca­tion oppor­tu­nities.
