Im Her­zen der Lau­sitz ver­bin­det die BTU her­aus­ra­gende inter­na­tio­nale For­schung mit zukunfts­ori­en­tier­ter Lehre. Sie leis­tet mit Wis­sens-, Tech­no­lo­gie­trans­fer und Wei­ter­bil­dung einen wich­ti­gen Bei­trag für Gesell­schaft, Kul­tur und Wirt­schaft. Als Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät bie­tet die BTU ein bun­des­weit ein­zig­ar­ti­ges Lehr­kon­zept: Bei uns kön­nen Stu­di­en­gänge uni­ver­si­tär, fach­hoch­schu­lisch und dual stu­diert wer­den.


Work­ing field:

The pro­fessor is expec­ted to rep­res­ent the field Her­it­age Con­ser­va­tion in all its aspects. She or he should pos­sess a wealth of exper­i­ence in research on places of cul­tural sig­ni­fic­ance in vari­ous coun­tries and epochs as well as in appro­pri­ate inter­ven­tions in such places. She or he should have a net­work of inter­na­tional con­tacts and con­trib­ute act­ively to the inter­na­tional dis­course on Her­it­age.
Teach­ing focusses on the inter­na­tional mas­ter pro­grams »World Her­it­age Stud­ies« und »Her­it­age Con­ser­va­tion and Site Man­age­ment« (taught in Eng­lish) as well as »Build­ing and Con­ser­va­tion«, Archi­tec­ture and Urban and Regional Plan­ning (taught in Ger­man). It also
com­prises train­ing of doc­toral can­did­ates. The pro­fessor is expec­ted to con­trib­ute ac-tively to the DFG-fun­ded Research Train­ing Group on »Cul­tural and Tech­no­lo­gical Sig­ni­fic­ance of His­toric Build­ings« and to BTU’s Gradu­ate Research School.
Fur­ther­more the pro­fessor is expec­ted to col­lab­or­ate closely with the depart­ments of His­tory of Archi­tec­ture, Con­struc­tion His­tory, His­tory of Art and Cul­tural Man­age­ment as well as the depart­ments of Archi­tec­tural Design in His­toric Con­text and of Urban Plan­ning, both in the area of teach­ing in the­ory and prac­tice and in the area of basic research. It is also desir­able that the pro­fessor should estab­lish close col­lab­or­a­tion with non-uni­versity research insti­tuti-ons and expert bod­ies such as ICOMOS.
Classes will be taught both in Eng­lish and in Ger­man. We expect exper­i­ence in acquir­ing third-party fund­ing and in con­duct­ing third-party fun­ded research pro­jects. Research pro­jects should be rel­ev­ant for DFG (Ger­man Research Found­a­tion) fund­ing. Applic­ants should de-mon­strate an out­stand­ing doc­tor­ate with a focus on the pro­file.
Other duties res­ult from the require­ments set by § 42 Branden­bur­gisches Hoch­schulge-setz (Higher Edu­ca­tion Act of the State of Branden­burg – BbgHG) in con­junc­tion with § 3 BbgHG.


In addi­tion a sci­entific qual­i­fic­a­tion in the form of habil­it­a­tion-equi­val­ent achieve­ments is expec­ted.

Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and real­iz­a­tion of third-party fun­ded pro­jects is expec­ted. Fields of research should be rel­ev­ant for the DFG (Ger­man Research Found­a­tion) or sim­ilar inter­na­tional research fund­ing organ­iz­a­tions. Lec­tures are primar­ily to be held in Ger­man, flu­ency in Eng­lish is expec­ted.
