Uni­versity Pro­fessor – salary grade W3

for the chair of „Archi­tec­ture and Design Meth­ods“.

Work­ing field:

Key com­pet­ence of the pos­i­tion in teach­ing and research is archi­tec­tural design, spe­cific­ally address­ing design meth­ods with respect to build­ing con­struc­tion as well as with respect to dis­cip­lin­ary and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary devel­op­ment and com­mu­nic­a­tion. An emphasis lies in the sys­tem­at­iz­a­tion of exist­ing design meth­ods and the research and devel­op­ment of innov­at­ive design-based meth­ods and strategies that can be applied in the build­ing industry and in applied and fun­da­mental research. Suc­cess­ful applic­ants are expec­ted to con­trib­ute act­ively to the devel­op­ment of the key research areas of TU Ber­lin and to par­ti­cip­ate in the fac­ulty’s teach­ing cur­riculum.


We are look­ing for a sci­ent­ist (f/m), who as an archi­tect can prove qual­i­fied achieve­ment in architec- tural design and build­ing con­struc­tion, in the applic­a­tion and devel­op­ment of design meth­ods and/or dis­tin­guished real­ized pro­jects and build­ings in this spe­cific field. The cap­ab­il­ity of inter­dis­cip­lin­ary team­work and the will­ing­ness for par­ti­cip­a­tion in the aca­demic self-gov­ern­ment is expec­ted.
Applic­ants must qual­ify for appoint­ment accord­ing to the require­ments of §100 of the Ber­lin Act on Higher Edu­ca­tion (Ber­lHG); these entail a com­pleted uni­versity degree in archi­tec­ture, as well as ped­ago­gic-didactic exper­i­ence and suit­ab­il­ity proved by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (you can obtain more detailed inform­a­tion con­cern­ing this on the TUB homepage, dir­ect access 144242).
Applic­ants must be able to con­duct teach­ing in Ger­man and Eng­lish. The requis­ite lan­guage skills were determ­ined by the Aca­demic Sen­ate in its decision on lan­guage policy of 16.5.2018. The tak­ing over of respons­ib­il­ity for the lead­er­ship and dir­ec­tion of a spe­cial­ist area and its employ­ees* as well as the abil­ity to pro­mote young tal­ent is expec­ted. Com­pet­ences with regard to equal­ity, the advance­ment of women and gender & diversity are desir­able.
