Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Trans­re­gio­nal Col­la­bo­ra­tive Rese­arch Cen­ter (SFB) 248 “Foun­da­ti­ons of Per­spi­cuous Soft­ware Sys­tems”

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

2 Rese­arch Asso­cia­tes/ PhD Stu­dents/ Post­docs

The posi­ti­ons are star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­ti­ons are fixed-term to 31st of Decem­ber 2022. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed-Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (WissZeitVG). The posi­ti­ons aim at obtai­ning fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion (e.g. PhD/habi­li­ta­tion the­sis). Balan­cing family and career is an important issue. The posts are basi­cally sui­ta­ble for can­di­da­tes see­king part-time employ­ment. A part-time employ­ment with 50%of the full time wee­kly hours is pos­si­ble.
The Com­pu­ter Sci­ence CRC 248 lays the sci­en­ti­fic foun­da­ti­ons for the cyber-phy­si­cal sys­tems of the future, enab­ling them to exp­lain their func­tio­n­a­lity and beha­viour (so-cal­led Per­spi­cuous Sys­tems). We are rese­ar­ching a foun­da­tio­nal and app­li­ca­ble theory of expli­ca­ti­ons for all facets of sys­tem beha­viour, as well as visual and ver­bal explana­tion methods for diverse user groups. As a mem­ber of the Inter­ac­tive Media Lab Dres­den you will be part of a suc­cess­ful team of expe­ri­en­ced rese­ar­chers of diverse back­grounds. You will work in the vibrant sci­en­ti­fic envi­ron­ment of the CRC/TR 248 and TU Dres­den, one of the lea­ding Ger­man rese­arch uni­ver­si­ties. Work­ing field:

Inde­pen­dent rese­arch in the field of the chair, espe­ci­ally in the field of Trusted Com­pu­ting. In this con­text, the main rese­arch areas include the deve­lop­ment of soft­ware com­pon­ents wit­hin and focus on the use of per­spi­cuity in the con­text of depen­da­ble sys­tems. It will inves­ti­gate fun­da­men­tal tools and tech­ni­ques to improve the under­stan­ding and miti­ga­tion of erro­ne­ous sys­tem beha­vi­ors as well as to inves­ti­gate/ verify an approach to improve the depen­da­bi­lity of sys­tems with the help of diverse repli­cas. The deve­lop­ment, publi­ca­tion and pre­sen­ta­tion of sci­en­ti­fic publi­ca­ti­ons at natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces as well as jour­nals are expec­ted.


very good uni­ver­sity degree (M.Sc., Dipl.), and if app­li­ca­ble a PhD, in Com­pu­ter Sci­ence or rela­ted fields, strong skills in dis­tri­bu­ted sys­tems, Secure data manage­ment; good know­ledge of dis­tri­bu­ted algo­rithms; prac­ti­cal expe­ri­ence in dealing with dif­fe­rent pro­gramming lan­guages and con­cepts; abi­lity to work inde­pendently and pur­po­se­fully in a team; inte­rest in inter­di­sci­pli­nary coope­ra­tion in all areas of com­pu­ter sci­ence as well as with indus­trial part­ners; flu­ency in Eng­lish-writ­ten and oral; an inte­gra­tive and coope­ra­tive per­so­na­lity with excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion and social skills; high enga­ge­ment. Pre­vious expe­ri­ence in the field of Trusted Com­pu­ting is bene­fi­cial.
