The new established chair within the Mathematics Department, under the leadership of Professor Umberto Hryniewicz, is conducting research with the emphasis on symplectic geometry and Hamiltonian Dynamics. The Chair is currently being established and is searching for assistants in Research and Teaching.
2 Research Assistant/Associate
Candidates are expected to conduct research in Symplectic Dynamics, comprising the use of methods from Symplectic Geometry/Topology to study the Hamiltonian systems in the large. Among such methods one may emphasize Floer theory, Symplectic Field Theory, Hofer geometry, ECH, generating functions and Clarke duality.
Applicants must have a doctorate/Ph.D. or equivalent.
You have an above average university degree (master or equivalent) and PhD in mathematics. You have outstanding knowledge in Symplectic Dynamics and/or Symplectic Geometry. You have a genuine interest in and talent for mathematical research and teaching. You are independent and highly motivated and have a fair amount of communication skills and team spirit.
What we offer:
The position is 2 years and is to be filled by June 1, 2019. This is a full-time position. It is also available as part-time employment per request.
The salary corresponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
