The TU Dresden is one of eleven German universities that were identified as an “excellence university”. TUD has about 36.500 students and almost 5319 employees, 507 professors among them, and, thus, is the largest university in Saxony, today.
Having been committed to sciences and the engineering before the reunification of Germany, TU Dresden now is a multi-discipline university, also offering humanities and social sciences as well as medicine.
The Boysen - TU Dresden - Research Training Group for Young Researchers from the Engineering, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, co-financed by the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation and Technische Universität Dresden, offers one doctoral scholarship
for a period of three years starting as soon as possible.
The interdisciplinary Research Training Group Mobility in flux - Challenges and solutions for technology, environment and society consists of four Clusters https://tu-dresden.de/ing/maschinenwesen/iet/boysen/joker4/cluster .
In Cluster C “Electric mobility and autonomous driving: Perspectives for providers, users and media” the project C1: Moving Mobility into the 22nd century: development of mobility scenarios and integration of electric vehicles in the electricity system in the discipline Business Management is advertised.
Within the scope of this project, scenarios for the use of future mobility will be developed. The complex and multi-layered relationships should be considered in interdisciplinary cooperation during scenario creation. By including different framework conditions (technical, social, economic, ecological, political, etc.), the basis for further work in Cluster C can be laid. The aim of this project is the use of these scenarios to investigate different mobility concepts as well as user requirements and charging strategies in the use of electric vehicles and their effects on the electricity infrastructure. These scenarios serve as a basis for the work in this and other subprojects of the cluster. Building on the scenarios, this subproject deals with the possible contribution of electric vehicles to the system integration of renewable energies and to greenhouse gas reductions. For this purpose, the effects on the distribution networks and the role of controlled charging are analyzed by way of examples. Based on these analyses, recommendations for adapting the regulatory framework are to be derived.
Applicants are expected to have an outstanding university degree and a high level of willingness for interdisciplinary work and research. Common premises will be provided. The receipt of the scholarship obliges the student to be present at the Research Trainings Group's premises on three fixed core days per week. Participation in the Research Training Group's teaching programme is obligatory. Training and qualification opportunities are offered (e.g. project management, soft skills, language courses).
