In this DFG-funded project, the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying epithelial morphogenesis in animal development will be explored. Using Drosophila as a model organism, the role of the extracellular matrix and the actin cytoskeleton during the elongation of the follicle epithelium will be analysed using genetic and cell biological methods. Moreover, cell behaviour during this morphogenetic process will be investigated using modern microscopic techniques (e.g. live imaging, SPIM) and computer assisted quantitative image analysis.
excellent university degree and PhD in the field of Biology, Biochemistry or a related subject
strong knowledge in molecular genetics and cell biology
strong interest in developmental biology
very good English skills.
Experience with confocal microscopy and Drosophila is desirable.
