Die TU Dres­den ist eine der elf Exzel­len­z­u­ni­ver­sitä­ten Deut­sch­lands. Als Voll­u­ni­ver­sität mit brei­tem Fächer­spek­trum zählt sie zu den for­schungs­s­tärks­ten Hoch­schu­len. Rese­arch Asso­ciate

The posi­tion is to be fil­led on 1st of Janu­ary 2019 and will be offe­red until 30th of Sep­tem­ber 2021. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – Wiss­ZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion (e.g. PhD).

Work­ing field:

The posi­tion comes with a teaching load, accord­ing to the DAVOHS. Rese­arch focu­ses on Sci­en­ti­fic Visua­li­sa­tion wit­hin the inter­di­sci­pli­nary Com­pe­tence Cen­ter for Scalable Data Ser­vices and Solu­ti­ons (ScaDS). In close col­la­bo­ra­tion with the Inter­ac­tive Media Lab Dres­den and with rese­ar­chers from the mate­rial sci­en­ces, cli­mate rese­arch and the life sci­en­ces, new visual ana­ly­sis methods for data ensem­bles and for cross-scale data are to be rese­ar­ched. This requi­res inten­sive inter­di­sci­pli­nary com­mu­ni­ca­tion with the pro­ject part­ners.


Excel­lent uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter or equi­va­lent) in the field of Com­pu­ter Sci­ence pre­fe­r­a­bly with a spe­cia­li­sa­tion on visua­li­sa­tion or visual com­pu­ting; ability to work inde­pendently and tar­get-ori­en­ted in a team, high com­mit­ment; flu­ent in Eng­lish lan­guage to write excel­lent papers and to par­ti­ci­pate in inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces; inte­rest in inter­di­sci­pli­nary coope­ra­tion with part­ners. Know­ledge in usage and cali­bra­tion of sen­sors as well as in the imple­men­ta­tion with C++ and of GPUs is appre­cia­ted.
