Work­ing field:

The Pro­cess Dynam­ics and Oper­a­tions Group is look­ing for a new col­league for an excit­ing new pro­ject on the flue gas des­ul­fur­iz­a­tion of coke oven gas. The goal is to develop so-called wet oxid­at­ive gas des­ul­phur­iz­a­tion pro­cesses using new tech­no­lo­gies and using mod­ern pro­cess sim­u­la­tion tools in terms of energy use and resource effi­ciency. For this pur­pose, fur­ther exper­i­ments are to be car­ried out at the TU Ber­lin with an already exist­ing pilot plant. Based on the know­ledge gained, a pilot plant is to be designed and built, which will then be oper­ated on a cok­ing plant under real con­di­tions. At the same time, an already exist­ing pro­cess sim­u­la­tion is to be exten­ded, which is then val­id­ated with the exper­i­mental data from the field tri­als.

Spe­cific tasks within the pro­ject are:
  • Con­struc­tion and oper­a­tion of a pilot plant for the flue gas des­ul­phur­isa­tion of coke oven gas
  • Design of pro­cess engin­eer­ing appar­at­usses and machines
  • Cre­ation of plant doc­u­ments in 2D and 3D
  • Tech­nical spe­cific­a­tion and pro­cure­ment of plant equip­ment
  • Pre­par­a­tion of exper­i­mental plans and con­duct­ing of exper­i­mental cam­paigns
  • Pro­cess mod­el­ing, sim­u­la­tion, and model val­id­a­tion on exper­i­mental plant data

Require­ments:

For this pos­i­tion, you bring along a suc­cess­fully com­pleted aca­demic degree (Dip­lom, Mas­ter or equi­val­ent) in energy and pro­cess engin­eer­ing, chem­ical engin­eer­ing, inform­a­tion tech­no­logy in mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, or equi­val­ent degree pro­grams. You also bring com­mu­nic­a­tion skills, assert­ive­ness and a cer­tain degree of will­ing­ness to travel. You think and plan with foresight and respons­ib­il­ity in order to be able to guar­an­tee safe plant oper­a­tion in the long term. In addi­tion, you ideally have know­ledge in plant and appar­atus engin­eer­ing, in pro­cess auto­ma­tion, in hand­ling flow­sheet sim­u­lat­ors and in safety tech­no­logy. We are a very inter­na­tion team. Hence, lan­guage skills in Eng­lish are always of help.
