Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty VI - Institute of Civil Engineering / Chair of Conceptual and Structural Design

Research Assistant - 0.5 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

For a DBU-financed research project, precast elements made of Infra-Lightweight Concrete (ILC) are to be developed which will subsequently be applied in a building project of a housing company in Berlin. The aim is to demonstrate the architectural potential of this fair-faced concrete building method while integrating the advantages of pre-fabrication. Special emphasis should be placed on a design that takes the characteristics of Infra-Lightweight Concrete into account and thus realizes the robust simplicity of the material.
The 2-year-project will be carried out by the architect of this job advertisement at the Chair of Conceptual and Structural Design in cooperation with a research assistant (civil engineering). Based on typological analyses, the design of the façade made of ILC precast elements needs to be developed in coordination with the project architects of the housing company. Structural questions have to be clarified and general details for the connection of the precast elements are to be developed. Further tasks are the planning and support of the production and testing of prototypes, completion of ecological analyses and investigation of production, transport and assembly processes. Besides the actual research work, close coordination with the project planners of the housing company as well as project management work are part of the tasks.
