Work­ing field:

  • Con­trib­ute to the con­cep­tion, devel­op­ment, imple­ment­a­tion and optim­iz­a­tion of new algorithms allow­ing to fur­ther improve cod­ing effi­ciency over state-of-the-art video codecs such as H.264 / AVC and H.265 / HEVC stand­ards, VP9, AV1.
  • Con­sider applic­a­tion of the latest advance­ments in Machine Learn­ing to video com­pres­sion.
  • Ini­ti­ate ideas, design and imple­ment algorithms for super­ior encoder per­form­ance, includ­ing per­cep­tu­ally based bit alloc­a­tion.
  • Work with other engin­eers to main­tain and evolve video encod­ing plat­form.
  • Invest­ig­ate and troubleshoot video encod­ing issues.
  • Design API’s and part­ner with other teams to build integ­ra­tions with their CMS.
  • Optim­ize our video encod­ing plat­form on Cloud Infra­struc­ture.
  • Be part of the devel­op­ment of the codec tech­no­logy of the future


  • Solid pro­gram­ming skills, espe­cially focus on C/C++ skills (other script­ing lan­guages are a plus)
  • Good debug­ging, pro­fil­ing and soft­ware optim­isa­tion abil­it­ies
  • Exper­i­ence in soft­ware devel­op­ment of codecs com­pli­ant with H.264 / AVC and H.265 / HEVC stand­ards, VP9, AV1…
  • Exper­i­ence work­ing on cloud infra­struc­ture like AWS, GCP.
  • Exper­i­ence in video com­pres­sion and/or pro­cessing algorithms imple­ment­a­tion
  • Exper­i­ence in pro­fes­sional soft­ware engin­eer­ing prac­tices in the full soft­ware devel­op­ment life cycle, includ­ing cod­ing stand­ards, code reviews, source con­trol man­age­ment, build pro­cesses, test­ing, and oper­a­tions
  • Thor­ough under­stand­ing of ver­sion con­trol sys­tems, e.g. git, and other soft­ware devel­op­ment tools and how to use them effect­ively in a devel­op­ment team
  • Exper­i­ence in video com­pres­sion stand­ard­isa­tion pro­cess
  • Track record in pub­lish­ing in sci­entific journ­als in the field of video cod­ing
  • Mas­ter’s Degree in Com­puter Sci­ence or Equi­val­ent.
